AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ confirmed to kick off in January 2024

The 18th edition of the AFC Asian Cup, Asia’s flagship national team competition, is set to kick off on January 12th, 2024, and will run until February 10th, 2024. With 24 of the continent’s best footballing nations vying for the coveted title, the tournament promises to deliver some of the most exciting and competitive matches in the history of Asian football.

The AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ will be staged across eight top-notch stadiums, including six venues that hosted matches during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. These stadiums are Al Janoub Stadium, Al Bayt Stadium, Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium, Education City Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium,  the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium and Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium , ensuring that fans enjoy world-class facilities throughout the tournament.

“We know that the Local Organising Committee and the Qatar Football Association will stage a true spectacle never before experienced in Asian football history” said AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa.

Adding to the excitement of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™, the tournament will span 30 days, a notable increase from the 28-day 2019 edition held in the United Arab Emirates. This extension aims to boost the experience for Asia’s passionate supporters, whilst simultaneously raising the competition’s profile and commercial value.

The official draw ceremony for the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ is set to take place at the world-famous Katara Opera House in Doha on 11th May 2023 at 2pm (local time). The official match schedule will be unveiled after the draw, giving fans and teams alike a clear view of the thrilling matches to come.
